As a result of dam construction on this river system, nutrient levels were being impacted with subsequent impacts on fish. This sign describes some of those impacts and the steps that are being taken.

The program described on the sign is associated with the Kootenay Lake Nutrient Restoration Program (NRP) which targets the restoration of Gerrard rainbow trout, bull trout, and kokanee populations in Kootenay Lake.
