The pulpit is intricately carved and was once coloured gold and blue. It dates to the 15th century and was originally part of the wall of the Trinity Chapel (former reredos). In 1680 it was turned into this pulpit and stood in the south pulpit's place for a time. John Wesley who was the preacher and founder of the Methodist movement preached the Assize sermon from this in 1758.

Pevsner describes the pulpit as having a miniature rib-vault inside the top part of the niche.
