This Historical marker is located about 3 miles north of Braman, Oklahoma on Highway 177
It reads
Oklahoma War Chief
First Newspaper printed in the Cherokee Strip June 14, 1884 Published at tent town of Rock Falls 2.5 miles N.W. of here by Capt. David L. Payne Leader of Oklahoma Boomers. Printing office was burned and Boomers disbanded by U.S. Troops Aug. 1884.
Oklahoma Historical Society 33-1955 placed the monument that was manufactured by Willis Granite Products, Granite, Oklahoma
