Op 8 november 1944 kwamen hier drie Engelse militairen om het leven. Het voertuig van Dennis Arthur Brierly (sergeant), Joseph William Waterhouse (soldaat) en Sydney Stanley Joyce Webber (chauffeur) reed in een sloot, ontplofte en vloog in brand.

Het monument ter nagedachten is ontworpen door Dhr. A. van Hal en is onthuld op 8 november 1997 door burgemeester J.A. Jorritsma en Leen Claes.

Het monument bestaat uit drie ijzeren kruizen, die een dubbele piramide doorboren. De drie kruizen symboliseren de gesneuvelde soldaten. De gekoppelde dubbele piramide stelt het legervoertuig voor waarmee zij zijn verongelukt. Aan de voet liggen drie stenen plaquettes. Op de plaquettes zijn de namen van de drie Britse militairen en de tekst "Hier verongelukten op 8 nov. 1944 drie Engelse militairen" aangebracht.

Three British soldiers were killed here on November 8, 1944. The vehicle of Dennis Arthur Brierly (Sergeant), William Waterhouse Joseph (soldier) and Sydney Stanley Joyce Webber (driver) drove into a ditch, exploded and caught fire.

The monument, designed by Mr. A. Hal was unveiled on November 8, 1997 by Mayor JA Jorritsma and Leen Claes.

The monument consists of three iron crosses and a double pyramid. The three crosses symbolize the fallen soldiers. The double pyramid represents the army vehicle they were killed in. At the base are three stone plaques with the names of the British soldiers. There is also one plague with a Dutch tekst saying that there were three English soldiers killed on 8 nov. 1944.
