There is no information detailing whether this is a representation of a particular animal or just a generic notion of what an orangutan looks like. There is an adjacent plaque commemorating Kartiko, an orangutan who used to live at the Toronto Zoo, but the animal on the plaque is clearly not the same as the one on the bench.
