In New Orleans, in the French Quarter district on Royal Street, are several art galleries and antique shops. The Rodrique Gallery, near the intersection of Royal Street and Pere Antoine Alley, is the gallery where the artist has his works on display, most of which are of varying forms of a blue or red colored perky-eared dog. This, location, recently moved from another location (though I can't remember where from), has large glass windows that open to both roads.
Looking inside, in addition to prints, there were sculptures of the dogs, as well as tables (there was also a Mr. Manhattan figurine sitting in the window - not an art piece!).
The web site has an extensive bio of the artist and the types of works that he produces. The most famous are the two dogs. The web site mentions that the blue dog first appeared for a cover illustration for a book about cajun ghost stories. The dog was modeled after his own dog that died a few years earlier. Over time, the dog has been painted in all kinds of scenes, always in the same pose and expression (though softened over time). Lately, large sculputres have been made of the dog, two of which are in the New Orleans area.
