The cannon was purchased by the Plattsmouth American Legion after WWI. Its manufacture and origin is still being researched. This type was popular from the US-Mexican war until WWI. It was called a “flying cannon” for its high mobility.
The cannon is in a cemetery, whose gates close before night fall (about 5:00pm) and open around sunrise (about 7:00am).
