The Central City Fire Department is one of the oldest fire companies in Colorado. The firefighters are volunteer. Central City is a tourist town with gambling halls in the historic buildings. Located in the foothills of Colorado, the firefighters may need to contend with either a fire in a building or a wildfire in the mountains.
This building was restored by the local business community. The plaque reads:
Dedicated in honor of
Mrs. Willaim C. Russell, Sr.
Linold J. Begg Emil Thiel
and many other loyal citizens
and merchants who made the
restoration of this building
possible.
