THE CLACHAN

This building was constructed in 1912 by the Stevenson Sisters, Jessie and Helen. They were hosts to many visitors in their tea room until the late 1930's. The municipality purchased the property in 1944 and has leased the building as a restaurant since that time.

The Clachan has been known by other names, but in the Gaelic tradition it continues as a gathering place for the community and its visitors.
