The Alabama Shakespeare Festival (ASF) is the seventh largest Shakespeare festival in the world. Each year, it attracts more than 300,000 visitors from throughout the United States and more than 60 countries, to its home in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Alabama Shakespeare Festival complex sits inside the picturesque 250-acre Blount Cultural Park. ASF itself is comprised of two interior theaters as well as a small outdoor amphitheater.
The smaller of the interior theaters, the Octagon, is a black-box theater with a thrust type stage where audience sit on 3 sides of the stage. It can hold a maximum of 250 audience members.
The larger Festival theater is a modified proscenium with an audience capacity of 750. All of the Shakespeares, Musicals, and other larger productions are performed in this theater.

Special Productions/Events/Festivals: Annually, ASF hosts a Southern Writer's Project festival of new plays. Audiences can buy tickets to see and hear new scripts being worked as staged readings. Many of these projects eventually go on to become fully produced plays on the ASF stage.
