The Devil's Gate High Bridge is what gives the "Georgetown Loop Scenic Railroad" its name since it is not derived from a circular route. The "Loop" is the spiral that is formed when the track crosses itself at the Devil's Gate High Bridge in order to have a more gradual slope out of the mountains.
Devil's Gate was once a rock promontory that formed the narrows on Clear Creek, just below the High Bridge. It was lost when it was blasted away during road construction, but, however, the High Bridge retains its name.
Visiting this waymark does not require a ride on the train, but it is sure fun anyway.
