The historical marker reads as follows:

This partially reconstructed foundation, with remnants of the original east wall visible, marks the location of Dublin's first meeting house, erected in 1771.

Measuring 38' x 50', this imposing 2 story structure running along an east/west axis was modified in 1795 with the addition of pew galleries on the 2nd floor with access via covered stair porches on each end.

The building was used until 1822, but its exposed location led to its rapid deterioration and the structure was sold for salvage and removed. Although no drawings of this building have been found, interior plans suggest it closely resembled that shown, and was clearly Dublin's most prominent building during its earliest period of settlement.
