The house, garage, fences, even the trees are festooned with thousands of tea cups and coffee mugs in this small rural Taranaki town.

Situated on the main street of Rahotu on State Highway 45 - otherwise known as Surf Highway 45 - is this obsessive collection of cups.

Apparently the owner started hanging cups around the outside of her house to cheer herself up, and she never stopped.

The ones hanging from the trees at first look appear to be blossom, but not so - just cups.

There's a sign welcoming passers-by to feel free to wander around.
