Burled branches and logs used as porch roof supports and braces give this building a unique, rustic appearance.

This store was built as a Klamer Store in 1894 and sold to Charles Hamilton in 1914. The burled wood used as decorative elements and to spell out the store name is caused by a disease which causes a live tree to encapsulate the infected area with additional, abnormal growth. While this type of wood is commonly found in northwestern Wyoming, I have never seen it in such quantity anywhere else. The burled wood is also used to spell out "THE KNOTTY PORCH" on the wall of the outdoor seating area on the north side of the store.
