U.S. Hwy. 93 crosses Lost Trail Pass between Salmon, ID and Missoula, MT. The pass is about a half mile west of the Continental Divide. The Lewis and Clark Expedition crossed from the Salmon River drainage into the Bitterroot River drainage near here on September 3, 1805.
