The building located at 1705 N.W. 16th Street is in the shopping area known The Plaza on the southeast section of the Gatewood West District. This building was constructed c.1930.
The Historic District nomination in 2004 describes this building as an auto service building with two metal garage door bays, and a steel casement pivoting window. The building is called W.O. Christie Auto Repair. Renovation has altered this building.
This is a one-story brick building with a stepped parapet and metal awning. There are two storefronts. The west storefront has an aluminum-framed glass door on the west with two full-height segmented display windows. The east storefront has an angled aluminum-framed glass entry door on the east with three segmented display windows. A center brick column between the two storefronts has a multi-paned window.
The occupancy on the west, shown as 1705B is dna.galleries, an art gallery. The east side at 1705A is Collected Threads, a boutique of handmade items.
