The village was founded in 15th century by lumberjacks. Its original name was Parezov (Parez = tree stump in Czech).
In 19th century the area became a popular summer vacation spot, and first hotels and summerhouses were built here. The village obtained a new name Babylon, after the biblical kingdom where the Tower of Babel has been built, because of the multi-ethnicity of the summer guests.
The waymark coordinates point to the street in front of the village office and library.
