The Redwood Canopy Tours at Mount Hermon offers visitors an exciting eco-adventure in the redwood canopy of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

I didn't expect to go zip-lining when I went here for the waymark, but the redwood setting is so awesome and two tour slots were open, so I went with my son. This is currently the only redwood canopy tour in the world. The trip consists of 6 ziplines (with the longest being a 440 foot zip line ride), 2 connecting suspension bridges, and 7 treetop platforms. At one point you're 150 feet above Bean Creek headed to a 280 foot tall Sequoia Sempervirens tree. The trip is an educational experience, featuring short talks about the majesty of the redwood forest while you're stopped on the platforms. A 50 second video shows the what the tour is like.

This is a two hour experience from gearing up to gear off. Groups of up to nine are led through the forest tops by two experienced guides. Safety is paramount and an additional small practice line is used for training before entering the zip line course.

Price is $80 per person. Check-in is at 37 Conference Drive. The course starts about 50 yards from there.
