This mural is found in one of the hallways of the Margaret Carpenter Recreation Center in Thornton, Colorado. The mural has a large portrait of actress Jane Russell, who helped with the advertising of the original development of Thornton. Her brother-in-law was involved in the initial construction and she came out to help. (visit link) I live near 'Russell Boulevard'. Thornton was designed to attract veterans from the Korean War (as is my father) who had a guaranteed Veterans Administration home loan. (visit link)

The mural features Jane Russell, U.S. soldier, first developer Sam Hoffman, and 1950s era families. It is free to view during regular Recreation Center hours. (visit link)
