The mural was originally painted by Eric Grohe, the mural was restored by South Kitsap artisit Rodney Ewing in 2009. The library has no gutter to keep the water from damaging the mural, and the wall was not property sealed before the mural was applied, which caused the paint to bubble and lift, which Ewing was able to repair.
