Here in the museum trophies encompass the whole era of speedway including World, National and Individual awards. The museum was created by ex-rider Peter Sampson who rode speedway in the 1960's. He rode for Rye House, Rayleigh, Newcastle, Hackney and Swindon and offered a home for the museum at Paradise Wildlife Park here in rural Hertfordshire.

Around the museum are speedway bikes across the genre including Cycle Speedway and Ice Speedway. The displays have been thoughtfully laid out with crowds of fans cheering on from the mural on the wall in the background. Video footage creates the atmosphere of the race and many race jackets are colourfully displayed with speedway leathers/kevlars.

Some of the most distinguished trophies are the famous Golden Helmet awards won in different leagues across the world. Trophies also consist of crystal glasses, cups, belts, plaques and plates.

There are different sections dedicated to individual riders or teams including Simon Wigg, Nigel Boocock, Eric Boocock, Wimbledon Dons, Rye House Rockets, Ole Olsen, Jason Crump, Poole Pirates and Swindon Robins amongst others.

Bikes on display show sponsors and riders' names including (Craig) Boyce, Ivan Mauger and Booey (Nigel Boocock) and many more.

There is a small gift shop inside the museum with memorabilia for sale, including old programmes and old Speedway Star magazines. Outside the entrance door is the original Starting Gate from Coventry Speedway donated by Colin Pratt and the original Turnstyle from Wimbledon Speedway donated by Dingle Brown.

All in all, the museum is worth a visit to see the collection and the vast amount of work which has gone into displaying and preserving speedway history.
