The Lusk cave is a remnant of the Wisconsin Glaciation and penetrates a hill near Lac Philippe and Lac Mousseau in Gatineau Park. It's unusual in that you can enter the cave, traverse the entire hill and exit on the far side, if you don't mind getting wet! Even after a dry summer the water levels in parts of the cave are very deep. There is also a roof collapse about half way which gives another access point to the cavern.
Information plaques scattered aroung the cave satisfy the geologically curious. The cave was formed by glacial meltwater forcing its way into fractured rock and eroding the marble away. The erosion continues today producing a distinct 'keyhole' profile to the passages.
