From the NRHP application link , we discover that the William Corbit learned the tanning trade up in Philadelphia. His properous business allowed him to begin construction of this house in 1772 which was designed based on great homes in Philadelphia. In the 1940's the home was purchased by Rodney Sharp who restored it with some Victorian modifications.

Today, the Corbit-Sharp House, owned and operated by the Historic Odessa Foundation, is furnished to reflect the lifestyle of this region in the late 18th-century. (see secondary link below)
