This started as a 60' x 110' x 5 storey building in 1899 but doubled it's floor space in 1904 by expanded to 60' x 160' plus 2 additional floors. Again in 1911 there was another major increase in floor space when it was expanded to 98' x 160'.
The cost of the 1904 expansion was $40,000 and the 1911 one cost $50,000.

Marker Text: This warehouse designed by architect J.H. Cadham, was the third built by R.J. Whitla for his expanding dry goods business. Two storeys were added to the original five in 1904. With its clear and simple geometric lines, the structure is Richardsonian-Romanesque in style.
