The Mr. Stearman plane crash on Jan. 16, 2003 located not far from here is a memorialized dedicated bench. Captain Edmund R “Ed” Strauchen Jr died at age 62 with his good friend Bob Koch on January 16, 2003 in Ed’s Russian-designed Yak-52 in Midway, Utah, near his beloved Park City ski resorts. The plane named "Mr. Stearman" was a restored aircraft that Ed and his wife Myra had spent 3 years working on.
