Along the Little Cottonwood creek there is a sluice gate to divert the water into an irrigation canal. This sluice gate is at the south end of Historic Wheeler Farm along the property line. The creek is fed by melting snow and rain showers from Little Cottonwood Canyon and runs across the Salt Lake Valley into the Jordan River. The water in the canyon is used for drinking water and as it gets in the valley it is used for irrigation.
