The historic Klondike Bridge still spans the Big Sioux River which divides Iowa from South Dakota. It was used for automobile traffic in days when Klondike was a viable community but is now blocked at both ends limiting its use to pedestrians. Today all that remains of this area is the Klondike Bridge, the remains of an old flour mill and a popular spot for fishing. A public access provides a place to launch a canoe or kayak and a trail to portage around the dam. The bridge is on the National Register of Historic Places.
