Lewisville was a trading post on the Arkansas River about 1.5 miles from the current city of Morrilton. This marker has a sketch of the Arkansas River and an image of two riverboats such as would have been used on the river route through the area. The marker's text relates how on two occasions the riverboats carrying Cherokees were grounded. After a few days the U. S. Government sent wagons to carry the Cherokees on to Oklahoma. The marker is in a breezeway of the former Morrilton depot, now the Conway County Historical Preservation Association Museum and Genealogy Library. Behind the marker stands a fake tree trunk with the various removal routes carved on it.
