L'origine du mot ontario vient de la langue huronne dans laquelle il signifie « belle eau scintillante ».
This Welcome sign is located on Chenail Island on the Ottawa River close to Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre.
The province is named after Lake Ontario, which is thought to have been derived from Ontarí:io, a Huron word meaning "great lake".
