As you enter Bricktown from the west, you pass under the Santa Fe railroad tracks which are elevated through the eastern part of Oklahoma City. This mural is painted on the brick wall on the east side of the elevated tracks. In the photos, you can see a freight car and tank cars, parked on the tracks above the mural.
Named “Oklahoma’s Tomorrow,” this mural was a Centennial ’07 project, and funded by Devon Energy, Nonna’s Painted Door (a nearby, elegant gift shop), the Downtown OKC, Inc. and three Bricktown Venture organizations.
It depicts five children, a large Earth, and numerous space industry items such as the space shuttle, a rocket, two space stations, a satellite dish and an astronaut. This is a colorful and delightful mural.
Enjoy Bricktown! Eat at its restaurants, go to its clubs and entertainment spots, take a horse and carriage ride, go to a game at the Bricktown Ballpark, visit the Bass Pro Shop, take a ride on a Bricktown Canal tour boat, wander down the streets enjoying sculptures and the restored, historic warehouse district buildings constructed in the early days of Statehood.
