Located in the Plaza de Canalejas, between Calle de Alcalá and Seville Street, the building of the Banco Español de Crédito is a representative sample of nineteenth century architecture. It´s tapered ressembling like a boat ends in a watch pavilion.
This building was built initially to host the "La Equitaiva" Insurance Company.
It´s the work of the architect Grasses y Riera.
The work began in 1882 and lasted until 1891. It is an eclectic work in which is foreseen the modernist style of Madrid.
Decorative features of the final of the century with the neo-baroque influence, where the elephants stand out ,supporting a balcony.
An allegory to the strength, security and perpetuity.
Date of construction.: 01/01/1891
