Sparket Mill has been here since 1311 and may have been a Roman site of a mill. The mill pond is very small. The sluice was replaced recently as repair was no longer possible. Easily visible from the road.

This sluice sets the height of the small mill pond. Twice a year the pond has to be emptied and all the leaves and silt removed. The mill race starts a mile away and winds its way across two fields, starting from a weir on Dacre Beck. The water returns to Dacre Beck with only a fall a little higher than the water wheel. Inside is the old wooden sluice that was replaced. Grade 2 listed building.
