The new Greely branch of the Ottawa Public Library was completed in March 2011 as an extension to the Greely Community Centre at 1448 Meadow Drive. The landscaping of the project included benches and garden space, including this whimsical sculpture.
It is from the Randolph Rose Collection which is a collection of handmade garden sculptures. Randolph Rose the sculptor works from Yonkers, New York State.
It was a gift from Councilor Doug Thompson to mark the opening of the new building.
