Built in 1915 and renovated in the 1970's, this vertical lift bridge has an unusual design in that it does not use towers and cabled counterweights to lift the center portion of the bridge.

Named in honour of a Boer War battle where Canadian troops distinguished themselves the Pretoria Bridge spans the historic Rideau Canal in downtown Ottawa.
