This historic covered bridge is located on the High Deck Road crossing of the South Fork of the Santiam River about a mile west of the community of Cascadia. This historic covered bridge was built in 1945 and was originally known as the Whiskey Butte Bridge but was later renamed for a long time area resident, Gordon Short. It is the only surviving covered bridge of many covered bridges which crossed the South Fork of the Santiam River. The bridge is a 105 foot long, open sided covered bridge built on a Howe truss.
