The Coit Tower was built in 1933 with funds from Lillie Hitchcock Coit. Who was best known for her support of the local firemen.
Coit Tower is both a memorial to her (as it carries the Coit name) and for the San Francisco Firemen.
The tower has an observation platform at the top, giving a panoramic view of San Francisco. Also several round Viewing windows, giving you a set view of the City.
The Tower is sometimes lit in Red light to Honour the passing of named San Francisco Firemen, see U tube link :- (
