Along the south side of the original Government Springs Park, adjacent to Highways 64/412 (E. Owen K. Garriott Road), is a depiction of the cattle drives which came through this area in the mid-1800s.

Natural springs located here made this spot the perfect location for camping stops during the long drives from Texas to Kansas. A life-sized grouping of silhouette sculptures have been placed on the grass along the roadway, over a wide area, as they would have been positioned during an actual drive. They include over two dozen steer, a horse and rider, and a chuck wagon drawn by two horses. At the far east side of the display, a lone mounted Indian stands watch. A nearby marker indicates that "the lone Indian is the 'toll taker' who will be collecting two or three 'wohaws' in exchange for clear passage across Indian Territory."

These are metal sculptures and the public has full access to them as they walk around the paths in the park. This is definitely an eye-catcher.
