From the plaque: "Around 80 AD, the town authorities began to build a town wall. Witha planned length of 5.4 km and a height of perhaps 5-6 metres, it was a very ambitious project. Yet very soon afterwards it seems that the town was so short of money that building had to be stopped. Evidence of this is the abrupt end of the wall section in front of us."
The remains of the wall are located south of the housing estate Liebrüti. They have nothing to do with the fortress wall of the castrum from the 4th century AD that is located near the bank of the Rhine.
