The old stone Hampshire County Courthouse is part of the Downtown Northampton Historic District. Currently, it houses the Hampshire Council of Governments. On the west lawn of this building there is a unique birdhouse which is a wooden replica of the courthouse building. The birdhouse is painted the same color as the brownstone trim of the courthouse. There is one opening on each side and two at the rear for birds to enter.
