When Colossus went into operation in 1978 it was one of the tallest and fastest wooden roller coasters in the world, and the first roller coaster in the world with two drops in excess of 100 feet. While it has two identical side-by-side tracks the trains very seldom "race" and it is only a matter of coincidence when they do.
