A large eddy bar was deposited on the west flank of the Mosier Syncline as some of the main flows of the Missoula Ice Age Floods diverted up this synclinal valley. The bar is composed of well-sorted sand and fine gravel. These sediments were likely part of the suspended load of the floods, deposited in a large recirculation zone. Five separate floods are visible in this cut. There are likely many more deposits above and below the cut. A piece of charcoal contained in the deposit has a radiocarbon age of 14,795 plus or minus 150 14C yr BP.
