From Dictionary of Ohio Historical Places Lorrie K. Owen, Ed. Somerset Publishers, Inc. 1999
"... the Central Assurance Company exhibits two-dimensional modernistic ornamentation and massing. . . . Stepped in piers, engaged to the wall, with stylized, flat capitals define the vertical perimeter of the structure. Two Tuscan Doric engaged columns plank the doorway and support a flat heavy cornice. Stylized plants are carved into the frieze and capitals. Wide carreia glass bands separate the floors and act as a baseboard along the bottom." p. 426
