Swiss Cottage tube station was opened in 1868 by the Metropolitan Railway but, by the 1930s the line was suffering from severe congestion and in November 1939 a deep-level extension between Baker Street and Finchley Road was opened, serving the Bakerloo Line. The station transferred to the Jubilee line in 1979.
