This is ground zero for a very nasty tornado that struck Tuscaloosa AL on the afternoon of 4-27-2011. The first wave blew through in the morning and the days devastation was dramatic.

The locals will recognize this place as the location where Acker Appliance and H&W Drugs East stood until the five o'clock hour on 4-27 when a serious tornado tore through the neighborhood. From this spot, you'll be hard pressed to spot anything nearby that wasn't effected that afternoon, at least for now.

In the year or so since the storms, almost all the debris has been removed. A few businesses are rebuilding and a couple have already reopened.

In the gallery are pictures of a mail box. They are pictures of the same one. In July of last year, I actually mailed some postcards from that lonely mailbox. This used to be the location for Geocache
GC355A0 "Postcards From the Edge" but fortunately, progress has squeezed it into the archives.
