Lewisham DLR station is at the southern end of the north/south part of the DLR network. It is ideally situated adjacent to Lewisham mainline station and Lewisham bus station.

Lewisham DLR station opened in 1999 - twelve years after the DLR first opened. The station is on a hill and the platforms are at a lower level but as the trains exit the station they are at street level.

Trains run north to Greenwich where the track then passes under the Thames to resurface at Island Gardens on the Isle of Dogs. From there the tracks continue north until they reach West India Quay station. Thereafter the tracks continue west, towards the City, or to Poplar where the track splits between north and east directions.
