The monument to the Wassenaarse Slag was established in memory of Captain Charles Trepel and five other French commandos who were killed during a risky exploration at the Wassenaarse Slag in the night from 27 to 28 February 1944.

Landed on the beach in the night of 27 to 28 february 1944
And fallen for freedom of the Netherlands. They belonged to the
1st batallion de fusiliers marins commando.
