Birkenhead Lake is a little ways off the beaten track, but still a very popular place in the summer. The park offers fishing, swimming, and hiking. There is a diversity of wildlife here, including grizzly bears, black bears, and spotted owls.
Birkenhead Lake Park was established in 1963 and has been expanded twice. It now encompasses just over 10,000 hectares.
Be prepared for 17km of gravel road.
