Activity in this section of the Barstow BNSF yard is almost constant. While there is more intense activity in BNSF's largest classification yard a short distance to the west, it is much more difficult to observe the activity in that location. The Harvey House location also provides other activity to add variety to your visit. There is a railroad museum where you can observe various pieces of rolling stock up close and personal. The Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center provides free bottled water, but you will have to drive a short distance back into downtown Barstow for other refreshment needs.
