In North Kingstown, along US Route 1, was the Horsefinfeathers Carriage Inn, which was thought to be haunted, and was investigated by The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS), based in nearby Warwick.
The Carriage Inn is now closed (since 2011). Currently, the building still has the sign, as well as old carriages on display on the second floor. Unfortunately, there is little opportunity to visit and investigate for yourself. A picture at the entrance should suffice.
TAPS visited this location on episode 416 (Season 4, 16th episode) of Ghosthunters (SyFy Channel). According to the description on their site, the restaurant originally started in 1760. Supposed sightings include:
"A woman in period dress (late 1700s, early 1800s) has been seen in the main house's main dining room. In the bar, people have seen a man dressed in black carrying a book. The most disturbing sighting by far happened in the barn, which is now the banquet hall. There, people have reported seeing a young girl who had been burned."
TAPS went to work and spent the night in the building. They captured only fleeting evidence of hauntings. A couple of the hunters had heard what they thought was a female voice. Thumping was heard in one session. But, they also found high EMF readings that may cause people to feel they are being watched, and they provided an alternate possibilty for seeing shadows in the cellar - car headlights shine through the windows. But, overall, nothing was proved or disproved.
