The mural is on the south wall of the Home Hardware, facing the concrete pier where the rail line used to cross the South Nation River. It is approximately 30' long by 8' wide. It shows the train rolling into town and people waving as it speeds by.

I recently met the muralist. The "1996" inscription on the train reflects the year it was created.

Here is a section of the text in the description.
" ... On August 14th, 1896 the Ottawa & New York Company set their engineers to work mapping out a rail route from Ottawa to Cornwall which was to join the Hudson and Delaware system.
... at 7.45 am, the "New Yorker" left Cornwall for the first trip on the new line. As it made its winding way, it passed through the flag station at Crysler over the proud iron bridge that spanned the South Nation River. Passenger and freight service increased and Crysler was upgraded to a full station allowing pleasure and business travel as well as hay shipments to the U.S. to continue to grow.
... sometime in the 1940's, the great steam beasts were replaced by diesel engines which later proved to be the first signsl of the demise of the New York Line. By 1946, only one train ran daily each way between Ottawa and New York and by 1954 this service was stopped completely.
... on Friday, the 14th of February 1957, the last freight train made its final run from Ottawa to Cornwall.
... after over 57 years of service to canadians and americans, farmers and tourists, businessman and school childreen, hockey teams and workers, the New York Line became quiet.
... almost 40 years later, we still remember and dream of those days gone by when the train was king"
